Hi, first of all, thank you for this excellent program, we are about 7 years on air, most of them with wrs 24/7 !!

Our non-profit radio station is fully automated and we would to know is somebody would help us to solve this problems:

Random recorded programs

We have every job scheduled with m3u list with hundreds of programs to broadcast only one program of the playlist everytime the job is launched. The problem is that the playlist must be "random" because if not only the same first entry will be played always. We want to broadcast the mp3 programs in order, and at the end of the playlist go to the beginning. We could insert a job with an only program every day but this way is extremely time expensive. Do you know any wrs option to do that? or maybe some free automated playlist creator to change the playlist everyday..

We have tried StationPlaylist Creator Demo but it is a little complicated program to do so easy task and on the other hand we need a expensive license to see if it solves the mentionated problem. We also think in develop ourself an standalone program that every day changes each playlist to delete the previous item and include the next but this is the last and most expensive option.

High Availability

As we have a full automated radio working 24/7 sometimes the broadcast goes down (pc problems, hungs, etc..) and we want to know what options are working on other similar radio stations. Nowadays we are broadcasting with a PC with Windows XP and WRS/Winamp. We are thinking in migrate to Windows Server 2003/2008 to improve performance. We have tested wrs in WS 2008 and seems tht works fine, any suggestions? We also have think in a two pcs broadcast cluster (active-passive) but we have not idea about if it is possible and how to do that. The idea would be, one pc broadcasting, and the other listening, if the first fails, the second starts to broadcast and send the stop order to the first.

Some actions (maybe useful for somebody) we have taked to reduce human intervention are:

  • BIOS default power on boot (power failures)
  • WRS loaded at startup
  • DSP Restless plugin winamp installed and wrs option to automatically play when winamp stopped.
  • Reboot the o.s. every week

That's all!! Thank you in advance
