Caffine 1.0 for Winamp 2.95 and Winamp Radio Scheduler 2.0

For use with WinAmp 2.95 (with default/standard skin) and Winamp Radio Scheduler 2.0

(188kb zip file)

Caffine helps to keep your station up and running, by doing the following:

  • Checks to see if both WinAmp and WRS are running (checks the applications have not crashed).

  • Checks that there is audio playing through WinAmp (by checking the levels bars) This is handy if WinAmp is non responsive and WRS thinks it is still playing, it also helps to find and filter out mp3s with long silent segments by using the reboot log.

  • Checks the volume on Winamp and resets it to a pre configured volume. Handy if a human DJ leaves the level too high or low, Caffine will correct the volume.

  • Scheduled computer reboots.

  • Logs all dead air (track, time, date, etc) and reboots. Handy for tracking down bad mp3 files and fault finding.

If dead air is detected or any of the apps have crashed Caffine reboots the computer.

DJ's can click the large button to pause Caffine while using Winamp. This is required as Caffine will keep trying to control Winamp.

Caffine configuration window.

  • Dead Air Time.
Adjust the time between passes and the number of failed passes before a system reboot.

  • Winamp Volume Check.
Set what volume you wish Winamp to be set, and how often you want Caffine to check/reset the volume level.

  • Scheduled Reboot.
Select date and time of system reboots.

  • Misc (Pause Timer).
Set the time that Caffine will pause checking Winamp & WRS when the large DJ button is pushed.

  • Misc (Learner Mode).
Turn on/off Learner Mode. When Learner Mode is on Caffine will log any dead air, but not reboot. Handy for building up a False Positive list.

You can veiw the reboot log and copy the track name and add it to the False Positive list if a quiet track triggers Caffine. Once added, Caffine will check the track against the False Positive list before rebooting. Each track added to the False Positive list must be on a new line.

Caffine will need to be added to your start up items so it will load on start up / computer reboot.

(188kb zip file)

Tested on Win XP and Win 2K.
Requires WRS 2.0 and Winamp 2.95 with default skin.

Caffine was written for our station to lessen dead air due to Winamp and/or WRS crashing, and/or bad mp3 files while station is unmanned. It is here as is, and will not be supported.
